New Year, New Camp!

In June and July of this year, Redwood Community Services will be holding both of our annual summer camps for our youth ages 8-13 and 14-18.

This year RCS has decided to restructure the way we do our camps. We will start the summer with our Junior Leaders camp, for children & youth ages 8-13 which will focus on beginning leadership skills for our younger group. Youth Leadership Retreat will be for youth ages 14-18. This camp will focus on providing leadership development skills and learning for youth. These leadership skills will be facilitated by staff and mentors in an engaging and therapeutic setting. Activities for both camps will include mindfulness and team building exercises along with therapeutic arts and crafts, therapeutic games leadership and skill building techniques, and of course swimming!

RCS is also fortunate this year to host guest speaker Dr. Jaiya John who will be speaking to our youth at our Youth Leadership Retreat. Dr. Jaiya John was a former foster youth who grew up in foster care in New Mexico and is an internationally recognized humanitarian, author, speaker, poet and youth mentor. He has spoken to over a half a million people worldwide, and offers personal experiences, story telling practices for displaced and vulnerable youth.

Donations for our Youth Leadership Retreat and Junior Leaders will be accepted through our website as well as the enclosed envelope. The generosity of supporters like you ensures that RCS can continue to provide annual summer camps for our children and youth to provide and enhance skills and long-lasting experiences our youth can have with them forever.

Once again, thank you for your generous support. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Angie Bakker at (707) 472-2923.
