Mental Health Services

Redwood Community Services established a counseling center in 2002 to improve the lives of children, youth, and families in our community through supportive and intensive services, including individual, family, and group therapy. The counseling center program has evolved into the Mental Health program that it is today, offering specialized therapeutic and behavioral services to youth, adults, and families across the lifespan. Our clinical services are fully integrated with all of our residential treatment, emergency shelter, and crisis care services.

Interpersonal Skills Training Center (ISTC) - The Ranch
Located in the hills above Ukiah, the Ranch program includes transportation to and from your child's school or home. Services are provided both individually and in group settings determined by what best meets the needs of your child.

It is the mission of the ISTC Ranch program to help children learn and put into practice skills that help build positive relationships and self-esteem. As part of this program, families are provided a full range of supports. With this you will be able to better manage your child's emotional and behavioral challenges and assist in their growth and development. We believe that with effective interventions, both at home and the Ranch, children and families will better identify unique needs, strengths and interests.

In addition to being a part of a team, each child is offered individual time with a Rehabilitation Specialist, to bolster a sense of support, and inspire change in relation to issues that they may be struggling with in their lives. Services provided with the ISTC Ranch program are prescribed by a mental health clinician. A behavioral coach works with each child, his/her family and clinician to assist in reaching goals outlined in the client care plan. This service is by referral from a mental health professional only.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
PCIT is an intensive treatment program that improves the quality of parent- child relationships and provides parents with skills to manage the challenging behaviors of young children. It is designed for children between two and eight years old who are living with their biological, foster, or adoptive parent (or soon to be reunited) and exhibit behavioral challenges.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS)
TBS is a short-term program that focuses on changing a child’s behavior, while emphasizing the child’s strengths. TBS works in collaboration with the child, the child’s caregivers and the primary clinician to address 1 to 3 behaviors that jeopardize the child’s ability to remain in their current home.
