Foster Family Agency: Mendocino & Lake County

We had a busy summer here at the Mendo FFA! Our Recruitment team worked tirelessly holding information sessions, doing home assessments, training, and attending local events. With 9 new families ready to become resource parents, 10 information sessions scheduled, 18 RFA Pre Service trainings, 27 current resource families, and 8 outreach events the staff were hopping and bopping all over the county.

Summer in Lake County is always a blast! Our FFA staff were at Farmer’s Markets, Family Movie Day, and National Night Out while many of our families were relaxing, enjoying BBQ, and spending days out on the lake.

We had 11 new Lake County inquiries into becoming a Resource Parent and scheduled 9 information sessions. We continued to work with our current resource families and provide support and training to them as needed.

In July we were thrilled to send 5 of our staff to Anaheim, Ca to participate in the Family Focused Treatment Association (FFTA) Conference. Not only did we have an amazing time learning new skills and connecting with our peers across the state, we also had 2 staff presenting at the conference.

Another wonderful opportunity for us was having Dr. Jaiya John come and speak at RCS. Dr. John is a nationally recognized motivational speaker and former foster youth who came and presented to a group of youth from our foster and residential programs, as well as to our staff and community partners. It was clear the youth were moved by his words and so were we.

Lastly, our FFA was honored to receive several generous donations from our community. We were able to restock our clothing closet with clothing and toys, as well as supply our youth with brand new backpacks. This was an amazing blessing as we began our back-to-school preparations. Thank you!

If you see us out and about at events this winter, feel free to stop by, say hello, and find out what we’ve been up to. Informational material is always on hand in case you or someone you know is ready to learn more about becoming a Resource Parent.
